EUROPE

According to one version of the myth, Europa (Εὐρώπη) was a Phoenician princess, daughter of Agenor, king of Tyre (a city in Phoenicia, present-day Lebanon). She was renowned for her extraordinary beauty.

In order to seduce her, Zeus transformed himself into a white bull so he could approach her without frightening her and escape the jealousy of his wife, Hera. Captivated by the gentleness of the animal, Europa climbed onto its back. Zeus then abducted her to the island of Crete. There, he united with Europa, this time in human form. From their union were born Minos, Rhadamanthus, and Sarpedon. Later, once Europa no longer interested him, Zeus gave her in marriage to the king of Crete.

This myth is believed to preserve the memory of raids carried out by the Dorians along the Phoenician coast, which may have included the abduction of women in pre-Hellenic Greece.

According to Françoise Gange, the abduction and rape of Europa symbolize the transition from the era of the Mother Goddess to that of male domination and patriarchal power.

RESILIENCE IS THE HUMAN CAPACITY TO REBUILD AFTER ONE OR MORE PAINFUL EXPERIENCES

Resilience is the ability of human beings to rebuild themselves after one or several painful experiences. Spontaneously, we often think of deeply personal events such as bereavement, separation, or loss. While resilience indeed helps us endure and overcome such hardships, it also appears in professional environments, enabling individuals to move beyond conflict and chaos.

Beyond helping us overcome difficult experiences, resilience also allows us to adapt to change. It fosters curiosity, perseverance, empathy, and keeps optimism alive even when many things go wrong. In short, resilience is an extraordinary human capacity that has enabled humanity, throughout history, to survive and continue moving forward. It is a quality we must learn to cultivate in order to support us in everyday life.

Its most recognized characteristics include adaptability, self-reliance, optimism, perseverance, continuous learning through experience, and the development of self-confidence.
